Fleet Electrification Software
ServaTerra developed a fleet electrification software for Dunsky Energy Consulting.
Dunsky's clients face what is termed the fleet electrification problem, wherein a fleet of gas-powered vehicles owned by a business or government must be replaced with electric alternatives to meet constraints on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Determining the optimal timeline for transitioning a fleet is a challenging problem that depends on economic factors, vehicle usage statistics, client constraints, and the availability of alternatives.
To address this challenge, ServaTerra developed a modelling and optimization software package that automatically solves the fleet electrification problem. This tool has enabled Dunsky's team to deliver optimized electrification strategies for fleets of any size and complexity.

Building Decarbonization Model
ServaTerra has developed multiple tools in collaboration with The Transition Accelerator.
The first collaboration is a modelling software called the Building Decarbonization Alliance Open-Source Model (BDA-OSM). This tool predicts future energy consumption in Canadian residential and commercial buildings based on user assumptions (e.g., construction and demolition rates, domestic equipment types for heating/cooling, peak demand conditions, etc.). Its predictions are used for scenario modelling with the aim of electrifying Canada's buildings.

Net-Zero Energy System Transition Model
Our second collaboration with the Transition Accelerator is the Net-Zero Energy System Transition (NZEST) model.
This tool predicts Canada's future energy demand under various technology scenarios, enabling users to assess the impact of renewable technology transitions on energy consumption and GHG emissions. NZEST also contains a supply-side module that predicts resource extraction in response to future energy demand. This supply-side module interfaces with external economic models to predict the impact of the clean energy transition on employment.
Development of NZEST is ongoing. The model will soon be available for public use and is expected to be the standard tool used by consultancies to simulate net-zero transition scenarios.

With 11+ years of experience spanning across utilities, corporate strategy, construction, energy, and industrial sectors, Corey brings a wealth of industry expertise and a track record of impactful leadership to ServaTerra. As co-founder and head of business development, Corey has been pivotal in steering the company’s growth and forging strategic partnerships that drive sustained success.
Corey holds a professional engineering license in Alberta (P.Eng.) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Corey also earned his MBA with a specialization in Finance from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. -
Alex C. Kheirabadi, Ph.D.
Co-Founder and Vice President
With 10+ years of research and engineering experience across energy storage technologies, renewable energy systems, data centers, and medical devices, Alex brings world-class software development and quantitative expertise to ServaTerra. As co-founder and head of technology, Alex bridges the gap between strategy development and complex analytics, developing solutions that optimize decision making and drive efficiency.
Alex earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of British Columbia with specialization in modelling and optimizing renewable energy systems. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA, where he performs research and development on cancer treatment technology.
