Three foundational contracts helped shape our approach:

  • Dunsky Energy: Fleet Electrification Optimization (E-FLEET)
    One of our first major collaborations was with Dunsky Energy, a North American advisory firm focused on accelerating the clean energy transition. Their clients manage large fleets of over 1,000 gas-powered vehicles and must meet strict emissions targets by 2030. To address this, we developed an optimization package that determines the most cost-effective strategy for transitioning these fleets to electric vehicles. By integrating annual budget constraints and emissions requirements, our software helps fleet owners identify a financially and environmentally sustainable path to electrification.   • The Transition Accelerator: Building Decarbonization (BDA) Model
    The Transition Accelerator, a pan-Canadian organization dedicated to catalyzing system-level changes toward a net-zero future, enlisted our help to demonstrate how Canada’s building energy demands can be met through clean energy sources. We designed the Building Decarbonization (BDA) model, which simulates the heating and other equipment needs of homes and businesses, then factors in equipment efficiencies to predict energy consumption. This work illuminates practical pathways for reducing emissions at a massive scale, helping stakeholders across the country make informed decisions about building and equipment upgrades.

  • The Transition Accelerator: Net-Zero Energy System Transition (NZEST) Model
    In a second project with The Transition Accelerator, we developed the NZEST model to project Canada’s overall energy consumption through 2050, using population forecasts and historical data as key inputs. By estimating future energy demand and pairing those projections with economic models from Careers in Energy (a division of Energy Safety Canada), the model provides insights into how a net-zero energy transition could impact Canada’s broader economy and job market. These findings offer policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders a clearer view of the opportunities and challenges associated with large-scale decarbonization.
